Pet Vacations...couches, not cages!

  • Meet and greet:

We assure the best match at Pet Vacations by having you review and choose your caretaker online. Then we ask that YOU and YOUR PET visit before your trip. Our goal is for you to pick up a happy, healthy pet that wishes you would go on vacations more often!

  • Exercise:

We'll take your pet hiking or walking, plus he has the choice to play with a few dogs, always making sure your pet is not overwhelmed.

  • FEEDING:

Your pet will eat only his own food and treats that you bring. We don't want to upset his tummy, so we feed our clients separately and watch that they don't sneak too close to another's dish.

  • Special Needs:

If your pet is geriatric, a young puppy, or has special needs- a special diet, or medications to be given- Pet Vacations can accommodate you. We offer caretakers with no other pets, so young puppies or pets with compromised immune systems are not exposed to diseases accidentally carried by other animals. We keep chemicals in our homes to a minimum, using vinegar for cleaning and borax to kill fleas. All dogs must be on a protective flea and tick program when they come into our homes.

  • Transportation

We are happy to transport your pet to a grooming or vet appointment. We will also pick them up and drop them off from your home. Fees vary.

  • Bathing

We will bathe and comb out your dog, at your request, before he comes home. Fees vary.

Note: We cannot accept aggressive pets or those with contagious diseases.

Pet Vacations Caretakers

Our pet caretakers are carefully selected only after completing a thorough process that includes a detailed application and a personal interview with a home inspection. In addition a background check is completed before they are allowed to perform any kind of pet care in your home. This allows Pet Vacations to ensure that our caretakers are reliable, honest and dependable.

We also assure the best match at Pet Vacations by having you as the Pet Parent review the caretakers online and choose the one that sounds the best. Then we ask that you and your pet interview potential caretaker(s) before you go on your vacation.

You can then be assured your "fur baby" will have the best care and won't worry about them while you're away. Our goal is for you to pick up a happy, healthy pet who wishes you would go on vacations more often!

Amanda

Amanda is a happy dog owner of a 6 year old dog Belgian Shepard mix, Lucca. Amanda is a passionate dog owner, studying the art of health care and communication with a number of dog professionals. She has trained and certified her animal as a therapy dog, through K9to5 National Dog Registry; this has developed both hers and Lucca's skills at providing consistent, calming, and caring attention.

Amanda is an active outdoors woman, bringing the dogs to open spaces for walks and hikes. She works hard to see that the animals she cares for are attentive to her commands, respectful and aware of their environment, all-the-while, enjoying themselves and their new pack!

Amanda lives with her two retired, world-traveling parents on a quarter acre fenced plot. They are excited to welcome new dog friends into their beautiful Redmond home!

Aubrie

I was born and raised in the pacific NW and currently live in Auburn. I enjoy hiking, camping, mountain biking and spending time with my Umbrella Cockatoo, Kui. I am 19 years old this year.

I have been around a variety of animals my entire life, from chickens to mastiffs. I enjoy time with animals, they bring me joy that I cannot find anywhere else. They are all great company for me and I for them.

I pet sit on a regular basis for a 6 year old pit-bull that is such a dear pup and for 3 cats, they are the best snugglers! It brings me pleasure to be able to meet some new furry friends, and I look forward to meeting you!

Belinda

Todd and I have been married for 28 years and we have a 12 year old daughter. We moved to our property in May Valley next to Squak Mountain in South Issaquah about a year ago. Our home is on 1.25 acres with lots of room to run.

We are open to cats, dogs, small mammals, and reptiles. We have experience with all but currently only have an outdoor cat. Our home is one level and mostly hardwood floors. We are open to small dogs or cats on our beds and furniture.

Since Todd and I both telecommute some for work one of us is normally home most of the time. So any visiting animals would not be left alone for long periods of time.

Bonnie

Bonnie, her husband Gene and Winston the King Charles Spaniel have a lovely home with a fenced yard in Seattle close to Greenlake. Retirement from teaching has allowed Bonnie to do something else that she LOVES!

Her highest priority is communicating with her clients to ensure that their pets are receiving everything they need from her. She respects each animal for his/her unique personality. You can rest assured that your dog will feel and be safe, well cared for and truly in a home away from home!

Small to medium gentle walking dogs are welcome!!

Brenda

Brenda is retired and lives in Redmond with her husband and three special pets of her own; Maggie Mae the Pomeranian, Bugsy the Bug (Half Pug and Half Boston Terrier) and Bonita, the cat who thinks she’s a dog. Bonita the kitty is a dog lover also (she likes to give them kisses and nose rubs).

Brenda’s home is dog friendly with a small doggie door and a large secure fenced back yard so dogs up to 30 pounds will feel right at home. Brenda has been taking care of pets for most of her life. She comes from a family of pet lovers and grew up caring mostly for dogs and cats but also hamsters, fish, turtles and domestic rats. She understands the sadness that your pet might feel without you so she gives them lots of love and special attention to help them to adjust to their vacation home.

Brenda would like for you to know - "I love my work and I love all of the new friends that we make. I treat each and every pet as if they were my own. So believe me when I say that once you leave your pet with me, he/she will want to come back again and again."

Carol & Larry

Carol and Larry live in the Lake Hills area of Bellevue in a house with a large private fenced backyard. Larry works as a driver for UPS. Carol works as a part time nanny for her daughter.

Carol worked as a volunteer rescue representative for the Italian Greyhound Rescue Foundation from 2002 to 2011. She fostered Italian Greyhounds in her home and helped find and place them with suitable pet parents. She also adopted 2 but they have since gone over the Rainbow Bridge.

Carol enjoys walking the nature trails near their home, especially with the company of a dog. Since they both love dogs very much but currently do not have any of their own at this time in their lives Carol and Larry enjoy having visiting dogs to love and care for while their pet parents relax and fully enjoy their vacation!

Cheri

Cheri and her husband live in Renton just off of the 405 freeway. They have been pet owners all of their lives but currently have no pets of their own. So they are always ready to have a furry companion come to visit.

Cheri works part time as a Realtor so she works from home or is gone from home for just a few hours at times. She has a fenced backyard and prefers to take just one mid-size dog at a time (20-40 lbs.). So if your dog prefers a quiet home with no children and no other pets, Cheri’s home would be a good fit.

Chris

Chris has always been around animals, from dogs to horses to monkeys, and started regularly dog sitting in 1999 for an owner/breeder/handler of Bedlington Terriers. She and her boyfriend Zach foster dogs for Rockey's Rescue at their home in Auburn but have no pets of their own.

Your pup will get plenty of attention here as Chris is home during the day. They will also enjoy as much exercise as they want between the large back yard and long walks.

Chris has experience with lots of different pets and even farm animals, so she's open to meeting and caring for most any pet in need of a loving caretaker.

Dave & Ann

Dave and Ann live in Redmond off of Avondale in a beautiful home with Charlie the Westie. Their children are grown but are occasionally home to assist with dog care (daughter Renae and Charlie pictured).

Both Ann and Dave work from home so your pet will get plenty of attention and have lots of company throughout the day. Charlie welcomes small to medium dogs to romp and play in his fenced backyard and to maybe take a dip in the backyard waterfall!

Doris

Doris and her husband Clayton live in a lovely townhouse in Newport Hills. They share their space with little “Snowball” the Maltese.

Since they are both retired, Doris and her husband have a lot of time to spoil Snowball and one other small guest dog. Two laps and two lap dogs equal lots of attention! Your spoiled little prince or princess will fit right in here.

Eryn

Eryn, Jordan and their sweet Corgi, Pancake live in a cozy little cottage tucked away in Factoria. The secluded property is just blocks away from the freeway, but with its long dirt driveway it remains a sweet little hideaway with no traffic noise. It has a big yard (perfect for playing fetch) with a small quiet creek in the back.

Eryn works 4 hours every weekday and then spends the rest of her day with Pancake and any other furry friend that happens to be visiting. Eryn and Jordan enjoy going for walks, taking Pancake to the dog park, and snuggling up on the couch. They would love nothing more than having your pet to snuggle with!

Eryn has experience with both household pets and farm animals and is comfortable caring for animals of all shapes and sizes. Large dogs welcome.

Greg & Jolie

Greg and his daughter Jolie have been involved in animal rescue and fostering dogs for many years but currently have no pets of their own. Jolie takes great care with her small visitors, making sure that all of their needs are met and usually requiring that they sleep in her room at night. So pups that enjoy the company of young children would love this home in the Downtown Issaquah area.

They have a long list of excellent references. Many of their client dog “parents” work at Microsoft, Google, and Amazon so in-company references can be provided upon request.

Dogs that stay with Greg and Jolie are treated as members of the family with text or email updates sent to you to see how your pup is enjoying his/her own vacation. Greg works from home so your dog won’t be home alone for long during the day and their fenced backyard provides an excellent play area for supervised exercise. Leashed walks are provided at local parks and if your dog enjoys car rides, they’ll head over to the quiet Pine Lake area for some trail walking also. Greg and Jolie only care for 2 small - medium dogs at a time so your best friend will receive excellent attention and care.

Jane

Sky Terriers and Miniature Schnauzers are the specialty here but all small dogs are welcome! Jane and her 3 dogs, Marley and Skyler the Sky Terriers and Annie the Schnauzer live in the Robinswood neighborhood of Bellevue. Jane has an artistic streak and is a true dog lover. She works from home and her dogs are her constant companions and family.

Your pet, in her care, will become a part of this energetic and loving pack. The friendly streets of Jane’s neighborhood along with the trails and small dog off-leash area of nearby Robinswood Park provide perfect settings for fresh air, exercising and socializing. If your dog enjoys the company of other dogs and likes long leashed walks or off leash parks then Jane’s home will be a good fit.

Julie

Julie is a retired school teacher who lives in East Renton near the south end of Coal Creek Parkway. Her home is easily accessible from I-405.

She currently has no pets of her own but has raised three Miniature Poodles in the last 40 years and has friendly associations with several Golden Retrievers, a high energy Miniature Schnauzer, and other assorted smaller breeds.

She has a large backyard and a neighborhood perfect for dog walking.

Kelley & Gene

Kelley and Gene live in Kirkland with Maggie the Corgi/Terrier mix and a cat who does not realize she is supposed to be afraid of dogs. Gene works at home so your pet is not left alone for very long, although he/she should be capable of at least a few hours of quiet time. Kelley and Gene accept one to two dogs at a time so that their “guest pets” get all wanted and needed attention.

A brisk walk every morning starts a day full of doggie fun. A fenced yard and plenty of dog beds (not to mention the couch) give your fur baby lots of room to run and places to relax while you are on vacation. Kelley and Gene's Bridle Trails retreat is the perfect haven for all housebroken and cat friendly medium-sized pooches!

Kim & Family

Kim and her family live in a lovely house on a Sammamish cul-de-sac with their young Terrier/Chihuahua mix named Buddy. Kim works from home so your pup will never be home alone for very long. They have a fenced backyard and a great dog walking neighborhood.

Kim’s three children (all over the age of 8) will provide lots of playmates and attention for your small to medium sized dog that likes to snuggle. There can be quite the competition in this house to see who gets to sleep with the next lucky visiting pooch!

Kristy

Kristy and her husband Bob live in the Lakemont neighborhood of Bellevue between two parks with lots of hiking trails. They are retired, have no pets of their own and would love to spend their days spoiling your dog. They prefer to care for at most two small to medium sized dogs at a time so that they can make them feel like part of the family.

They provide long walks, hiking, play dates – whatever their guests prefer. They have a quiet home with a large unfenced backyard that is great for leashed and supervised outdoor time. So your dog will have lots of company, companionship and activity here but Bob also leaves time for some couch napping everyday too!

Lynda

Our caretaker Lynda, who also happens to be the owner of Pet Vacations, lives in a nice dog friendly neighborhood in the Eastgate area of Bellevue. Her proximity to Robinswood Park means there will be lots of walks, including a stop at the off leash area (for little dogs) for some play time.

Lynda and Terry have four small dogs of their own – a terrier mix named Sandy (also referred to as “The Boss”), Pepito the miniature pinscher, Miss Jake the cocker spaniel/basset mix and last but not least Gussie the teeny tiny chihuahua.

This happy pack of pups enjoy and are willing to share their lovely fenced back yard, waterfalls, and couch space and will even let their doggie visitors sleep on the bed with them each night. Small dogs that like the company of other dogs are welcome. No cats need apply.

Melissa & Craig

Melissa and Craig live in the Lake Hills neighborhood of South Bellevue with Zephyr the Australian Cattle Dog mix. They have the ideal situation as they work different hours, so Zephyr and their doggie guests are seldom left by themselves for very long.

They have a fenced back yard and also a great dog walking neighborhood. They welcome one or two mellow medium to large dogs at a time. Zephyr loves lounging with her guests!

Misty

Misty lives in Issaquah on the south side of Squak Mountain with her husband Toby, Little O (a fiesty Chihuahua mix), Fozzy (a very playful Schipperke mix) and their two cats; Amber & Topaz.

In addition to dogs and cats, Misty has owned and is familiar with the care of reptiles, rodents, birds, goats and horses. So she welcomes any small to medium sized animals and can keep them safely separated from each other (if necessary) in the spacious 3000+ sq. ft. house.

Misty does work part-time weekday afternoons at Cougar Mountain Zoo. But before work, all the pups are taken for a nice long walk to see and smell all that this rural location, adjacent to a state park, has to offer the canine senses.

Michelle

Michelle lives in Issaquah with her Golden Retriever, Chihuahua, 2 kitties and her partner (who knows he is at the end of the list!).

Michelle is an artist who works out of her home, so the pets are rarely alone. She has a huge, fenced backyard.

She welcomes any size dog that enjoys a quiet, mellow environment and that is a gentle enjoyable walking companion.

On nice days, Thea likes to garden and Mimzy likes to chase the squirrels. Mimzy would love a small to medium sized gentle dog to show around her yard. Thea prefers to have just one guest dog at a time (occasionally two) so your little ones will get a great deal of attention.

Tony, Sue & Neena

Tony, Sue and their teen daughter Neena live in Maple Valley and have one dog of their own, a Border Collie/Aussie Shepherd mix named Buddy. Buddy is a mellow senior dog and gets along well with other dogs. Tony and family usually only have one guest dog visiting at a time but will occasionally have two.

Tony works from home so your pup won’t be home without company for very long during the day (2-3 hrs at most). They usually go for two long walks every day and longer on weekends. Their yard is not fenced but is large enough for leashed outside time.

Neena is an aspiring vet and is very loving and caring with any visiting dogs. She is eager to learn about dogs of different ages and breeds so she is very attentive to them and their needs.
